Active life in Rankoshi
I moved from Yokohama to Rankoshi-cho to live near the mountain where I can snowboard and the sea where I can surf.
In 2016, I got a job near Hirafu ski resort, and I found a house with a good condition in Rankoshi-cho, then I was going to live in Rankoshi-cho. At first, I thought that I would like the town of Kutchan-cho, where there are large shops, but now I like this town.
For me who loves outdoor sports such as hiking and cycling in addition to snowboarding and surfing, I briefly summarized what is good in Rankoshi-cho.
a town with the sea, mountains and rivers
Rankoshi-cho forms the Niseko tourist area with neighboring Nisekoho and Kutchan-cho. However, the economic effect of tourism is limited because it is the farthest from the Grand Hirafu ski resort. In another word, there is still room for growth in Rankoshi-cho.
Between Rankoshi-cho and the Sea of Japan, there are the Niseko Mountains. The Niseko Mountains have mountain trails from Mt. Raiden on the west side to Niseko Annupuri on the east side, allowing you to walk though the trails.
You can see the mountains of the Niseko Mountain Range from the center of Rankoshi-cho.
Skiing/Snowboarding
Niseko United is made up of four ski areas, Gran Hirafu, HANAZONO, Niseko Village and Niseko Annupuri International. You can buy All mountain Pass that valid at these four resorts . Each resort is connected by a mountaintop, but it’s not close between bases. The closest base from Rankoshi-cho is Annupuri International, which is about 30 minutes from my house even in winter.
I love the Moiwa ski resort which is not crowd, cheap, and close from my house, easy parking a car close to lift. There is another article about Moiwa Ski Resort “Good Deals Moiwa Ski Resort“, so please refer to it.
A wide and open park facing the Sjiri-gawa River
The Shiribetsu River flows just north of the town-center of Rankoshi-cho and Ran-Ran Park spreads out on the riverbank. There is a park golf course, tennis court, soccer field, and a lawn square for multipurpose use. In addition, during the Sakura season, you can enjoy Sakura viewing against the backdrop of snowy mountains.
a town with a sea
The biggest appeal of Rankoshi-cho is that there is a beach in the town.
As a promotion for the town, I created a video of heading to the sea while watching the idyllic scenery.
In addition to the beach in the video, if you go through the panorama line, it is about an hour to the beach in Kyowa town. Depending on the wind and wave conditions, you can also get to beaches on the Pacific Ocean side in an hour. The photo below is a beach in Kyowa-cho.
